    Keep Calm and Carry On

-- British World War II poster

“I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games.

On 26 occasions I was entrusted to take the game winning shot… and I missed.

I have failed over and over in my life and then tried again.

That’s how I learned to succeed.”

~ Michael Jordan   Perennial All Star and Member of the USA Olympic “Dream Team”

If you put off everything till you’re sure of it, you’ll never get anything done.

       The Story of the Butterfly

A man found a cocoon of a butterfly. Gradually a small opening appeared.

He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to squeeze its body through the tiny hole.

Then it stopped, as if it could go no further.

So the man decided to help the butterfly.

He took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bits of cocoon.

The butterfly emerged easily but it had a swollen body and shriveled wings.

The man continued to watch it, expecting that any minute

the wings would enlarge and expand enough to support the body.

Neither happened!

In fact the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around. It never was able to fly.

The man in his kindness and haste did not understand that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required of the butterfly to get through the opening was a way of forcing the fluid from the body into the wings so that the butterfly could be ready for flight.

Sometimes challenges and struggles are needed in our lives.

Going through life without obstacles could impede us rather than help us.

Without rising to meet challenges, we would not be as strong as we might have been,

and some of us never would fly.

Going in harm’s way on your behalf.
